Taking responsibility

You cannot control other people's preferences or reactions, but you can control how you communicate. This chapter is about taking responsibility for your communication so you can ensure your messages and requests are heard through everything else that is going on in the brain. This is about being mindful of your own emotions and behaviour so you can manage the impact you have on others and their brains.

You will look at two new tools to help with this:

 Feel, Know, Do and Metacommunication.

Coming up in this chapter

In this chapter you will learn how to:

  • keep the brain in mind during different types of communication
  • use the Feel Know Do model to deliver messages and requests effectively
  • use Metacommunication to get on the same page with others

Next: Feel, know, do
